Button quail are small, drab, running birds, which avoid flying. They inhabit warm grasslands in Asia, Africa, and Australia.Buttonquail make great pets an feeders well there care needs anit that bad to meet. There main diet should be gamebird crumble. small seeds such as millet, rape and hemp are fine they also like veggies like tomato an cucunber slices, tiny sprouts, and broccoil. They also need live food like mealworms or crickets its beat to feed them mealworms or crickets 6 per day per quail.they need a calcium supplement like crushed oyster shell( i plan on tryin repcal an see how that works lol).As for housein you can keep singles in a 30gal or
pair in a 55gal you could use tubs witch i plan to do you can can keep babies in a 10gal till they start to get bigger.Button quail have a habit of flyin up when scared an they forget there a roof an hit there heads they could die or have health problims later so it best to try to boink proof the roof i plan on putin sommething soft on the tub top like a twol maybe or something like that lol.Well to get quttonquail you could order some babies adults or eggs if you order eggs when they come to you,you have to be ready to incubate them when you get them i found an easy way to do that get a 10gal fish/reptile tank an put some carefresh on the bottom of the tank put a clamp light on the eggs use the night time blubs get the temps to about close to 100 as you can dont forget to turn the eggs alilte like mom douse you can do that once a day but twice is better. When the eggs hatch put the chicks in a 10gal or bigger if you have alot of chicks hatch and start them on starter gamebird crumble.if you need more help go to these links. Great info I would just like to add that most Gamebird mixes have all the right ingredients for them. Also layer mash for chickens works just as well too. That makes the meal worms and stuff not needed. Not saying anything is wrong with feeding them the way you mentioned. But it would make for more cost in feeder production. You always need to try and keep cost at a minimum as to not cause your hobby to strain your budget down the road. Button quial can cost pennies a day if done the right way and that makes them very good feeder choices. Along with many other attributes.

Just about any feed store carries it. Co Ops and Tractor Supply would be a good place to start.

I may just have to think about these... I never did because my Dad used to raise them to train his bird dogs with. Seemed like a real pain in the ass when I was five, lol. I remember the UPS guy delivering these big boxes of baby quail and then helping my mom sort out the injured and put them in the cage my Dad set up for them.
